With debut Sea Of Ethanol, Indian Askin distinguished themselves from the fresh influx of psych-pop bands, sketching out a sepia-toned, misty sound that’s entirely their own. The group founded by Chino Ayala pens sharp, addictive hooks as well as conjuring dark psychedelics. You can practically taste the smell of hard liquor and cigarette smoke in songs like Asshole Down and Answer. Indian Askin’s new LP Another Round explores the fallout of substance abuse in refreshing fashion: not with cliché downer melodicism, but more bubbly, electronics-tinged levity.
