Personal Trainer is a brand new project founded by Amsterdam-based musician Willem Smit, who also happens to be one of the creative forces behind indie rock firebrands Canshaker Pi. Holding the reigns by himself, however, has made Personal Trainer a different beast: a manic rock orchestra that taps into the wayward spirits of Car Seat Headrest, Silver Jews, The Fall, and LCD Soundsystem, with Smit gleefully embracing the role of everyman poet and brass-necked soapbox orator.
